JOB SUMMARY
The Project Developer position works to mature assigned development assets from site control to NTP. This position serves as primary contact for all internal and external project stakeholders, manages project schedules and budgets, and identifies and mitigates risk throughout the development lifecycle. Regular day travel is required.
The Project Developer position reports directly to Chief Development Officer and works closely with other key staff including peer project developers, Land Manager, Development Engineering, and Chief Technical Officer.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Company’s services and pricing structure, as well as that of its competitors and trends in the marketplace, and regularly communicate with Company supervisors about market trends and positioning
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all local permitting requirements, interconnection processes, and regulatory compliance issues
- Represent the company at industry and public events including conferences with overnight travel required
- Serve as the primary point of contact for landowners and other external stakeholders for assigned development projects
- Develop strong relationships with utilities and state agencies to facilitate interconnection and siting informational pre-requests
- Create and maintain schedules and budgets for assigned projects
- With support from the Permitting Lead, manage the entitlement process with local government authorities, including day-to-day interaction with city and county planning boards, as well as presenting projects to discretionary review bodies and project stakeholders
- Manage subcontractors as necessary to complete necessary studies for state PBR process for assigned projects
- With support from the Technical Lead, manage the interconnection application process (utility and/or PJM) for assigned projects
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and IP related to the development process
- Identify and mitigate risk throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain good stakeholder relations and customer service throughout the project development cycle
- Complete required reports and other paperwork in a timely manner and in accordance with Company policy
- Regularly review weekly activities, progress on goals, and status of assigned projects
- Other duties, as assigned
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy project development
- Strong commitment to improving social and environmental outcomes of renewable energy development
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, and strong communication skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize while managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
- Self-motivated
